Understanding Couples Therapy

A 1-hour Zoom event with Certified Gottman Therapist Kerrie Lumbewe

Are you wondering if couples therapy is right for you — but not sure where to start?

Join us for a free online information night where you'll get an honest, research-backed look at what couples therapy actually involves, and how it can help your relationship.

Date: Wednesday, 18 March 2025

Time: 7:30 PM AEST

Where: Zoom (link sent on registration)

Cost: Free

Your presenter: Kerrie Lumbewe

Kerrie Lumbewe is the Principal Psychologist and Director of Motivating Marriages Psychology. She is a fully registered psychologist and one of Australia's Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapists — a distinction that requires years of supervised clinical practice assessed by the Gottman Institute in the USA. She also holds an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples and has been practising psychology since 2002.

On the night, Kerrie will cover:

  • What the Gottman Institute's 40 years of research tells us about what makes — and breaks — relationships

  • How Emotionally Focused Therapy works and why it’s effective

  • Motivating Marriages' Marathon Therapy model — and why intensive therapy often achieves more in two days than months of weekly sessions.

  • Live Q&A

This is for you if:

  • You've been thinking about couples therapy but don't know where to begin

  • You and your partner want to invest proactively in your relationship

  • You're curious about the research behind what makes relationships last
